Political and socio-cultural pressures require the NHS to substantially increase its effectiveness in order to remain sustainable. This has to be achieved through:
maximising the efficiency of current structures, processes and resources
developing new innovative healthcare systems across primary care, hospitals and other environments.
But each patient and each healthcare environment is different; there is a great variety in anatomy, physiology and pathology in people but also in care environments.
To meet these challenges healthcare managers need to develop their ability to:
assess the effectiveness of current structures, processes, people, enablers, products and services
increase their efficiency
understand and manage the impact of external drivers and patient needs
develop a cohesive and shared vision for healthcare provision
think creatively and strategically in order to specify new systems
plan in order to make these operational
The following diagram provides an overview of how we see the relationships between all of these factors.

These are very complex challenges and require effective tools and techniques. We believe that, with our unique combination of methodology, approach and expertise, HealthTech can make a valuable contribution to improving the NHS.
